Full Membership
To become a full member of the BACD, you must demonstrate relevant continuing education in the field of cosmetic/aesthetic dentistry
For dentists and technicians, a full membership form is included in the pack sent to you when you join, and you can request further copies from BACD head office.

Full member
If you are a dentist or technician, and you’re ready to take the next step, you can apply to become a full member. There is no extra cost to become a full member.
You must demonstrate relevant continuing education in the field of cosmetic/aesthetic dentistry. A full membership form is included in the pack sent to you when you join online, and you can request another copy via the BACD head office.
Any CPD submitted must be within a two year retrospective period from the date of your submission
Please note the following provisos for dentists:
- You must be at least three (3) years qualified to apply for full membership
- You must provide evidence of at least 75 hours of relevant CPD
- Your submission must include 12 hours’ attendance at BACD meetings. BACD verifiable CPD is from conference/recommended meetings/lectures organised by BACD and not simply sponsored by BACD
- Your submission must include a minimum of 7 hours and a maximum of 12 hours of occlusion course
- Your submission can include a maximum of 12 hours of surgical implant courses
- Your submission can include a maximum of 6 hours of facial aesthetics courses
- Online courses approved by the BACD are acceptable to a maximum of 10 hours
Please note the following provisos for technicians:
- Reading magazine articles is not accepted
- You must provide evidence of at least 30 hours of relevant CPD
- Your submission can include a maximum of 5 hours of surgical implant courses
- Your submission can include a maxium of 5 hours of occlusion courses
- Your submission must include 6 hours’ attendance at BACD meetings. BACD verifiable CPD is from conference/recommended meetings/lectures organised by BACD and not simply sponsored by BACD
Examples of relevant CPD subjects: these cover the full spectrum of education in cosmetic dentistry including:
- Smile design
- Ceramic restorations
- Composite resin restorations
- Aesthetic bridges and pontics
- Anterior implants/implant aesthetics
- Adhesion
- Materials
- Colour in dentistry
- Whitening
- Aesthetic soft tissue management
- Posterior aesthetic restorations
- Occlusion
- Laboratory communication
- Photography/cosmetic imaging
- Orthodontics
What is NOT accepted:
- Reading magazine articles is not accepted
- Lectures attended as part of a compulsory course e.g. vocational training, are not accepted
Maintenance of full membership for dentists:
- Maintenance of full membership for dentists will require 40 hours of relevant verifiable CPD to be submitted every 2 years from the date of acceptance of full membership by BACD. This must include 12 hours’ attendance at BACD meetings
Maintenance of full membership for technicians:
- Maintenance of full membership for technicians will require 20 hours of relevant verifiable CPD to be submitted every 2 years from the date of acceptance of full membership by BACD. This must include 6 hours’ attendance at BACD meetings
