Advanced Ceramics: Everyday Workflows
A hands on update on contemporary ceramics applied to aesthetic and restorative dentistry. Practical teaching on diagnostic, preparation and temporisation techniques for anterior and posterior cases. This full day course will provide a deeper understanding of ceramic systems, how to shade match and how to optimise your clinical steps to manage simple to moderate complexity case types.
Aims and objectives
- Review materials science – with specific knowledge on current ceramic developments
- Show an understanding of preparation principles for indirect restorations
- Develop a systematic workflow for preparation
- The ability to critically appraise diagnostic wax-ups
- Be aware of communication and informed consent processes for health orientated and elective procedures
- Compare and contrast digital/analogue impression techniques
- Understand the tenets of colour in teeth and how to shade match predictably
- Apply the knowledge of smile design concepts to live cases
- Learn how to manipulate transition lines in cases of low, medium and high complexity
- Recall the methods for reliable temporisation and for aesthetic evaluation
