About this treatment

Dental crowns are generally made, following tooth reduction and impressions or a scan, by a dental technician in a dental laboratory. Sometimes they can be made immediately in the surgery using a CADCAM system. Good dental crowns require excellent communication and teamwork between the dentist and the technician.

So what are Dental Crowns?

Dental crowns can be porcelain bonded to metal, all-ceramic materials or porcelain bonded to zirconium. They are constructed to mimic the natural tooth and the colour will be matched to the natural colour of your adjacent teeth.

Sometimes crowns can also be constructed to help support a partial denture, giving extra stability to the denture.
