Aims
- To provide delegates with a comprehensive foundation in clinical dental photography, from essential camera settings to advanced lighting techniques
- To demonstrate how high-quality, standardised images can enhance communication with patients, colleagues, and laboratories
- To equip delegates with the knowledge and skills required to produce photography suitable for BACD Accreditation and portfolio development
- To give delegates confidence in utilising auxiliary equipment and light modification for consistent, reproducible results
- To promote photography as an integral part of modern, ethical, and patient-centred dental practice
Objectives
By the end of this workshop, delegates will be able to:
- Set up and operate DSLR or mirrorless cameras for intraoral and extraoral photography
- Apply effective retraction, mirror, and contrastor techniques to achieve standardised clinical views
- Modify and control light sources to enhance image quality and minimise common errors
- Incorporate auxiliary equipment (mirrors, retractors, contrastors, flashes) to achieve consistent, professional results
- Capture the full BACD Accreditation photography series to the required standard
- Understand file management, organisation, and editing workflows for efficient case documentation
- Confidently integrate photography into daily practice to improve treatment planning, patient communication, and presentation of clinical cases
