Dr. Ken Harris is a vastly experienced dental practitioner now specialising in high-value, complex reconstructions at his multi-award-winning private referral practice in Sunderland.
A graduate of Newcastle University (1982), he spent 18 years in NHS practice before establishing a private “squat” practice in 2000. During this transition, he recruited renowned business coaches Cathy Jameson (Oklahoma) and Bill Blatchford (Oregon), to support the development of his highly successful private practice.
Clinically, Ken has studied Porcelain Veneers with Larry Rosenthal in New York (2001-03), Composites with Newton Fahl in Brazil (2006), and Occlusion with John Kois (2006-08), becoming the first UK graduate of the Kois Center in Seattle (2008), where he now acts as Mentor,
Driven by a commitment to lifelong learning, Dr Harris has earned advanced qualifications including an MSc in Restorative & Aesthetic Dentistry (Manchester, 2014) and Fellowships from FGDP(UK), FCGDent, and FDSRCS (Eng).
A founding member of the BACD, he was in the first group to pass BACD Accreditation (2007) and, with Oliver Harman, achieved BACD Fellowship (2010). Known for his depth of knowledge and approachable manner, he has for almost two decades now, served as a tutor and examiner for the BACD Accreditation Examination, while travelling extensively throughout the UK to teach, lecture, and generally promote the Academy.
Despite maintaining a full-time clinical workload (and his advancing years), he continues to teach widely, both nationally and internationally.
Now in his 44th year of practice, Dr Harris has experienced most of the challenges modern dentistry can produce and so brings a vast wealth of experience and perspective to the BACD Board.
