Biologically Oriented Preparation Technique – From Natural Teeth to Implants

The aim is to understand: 
The principal of B.O.P.T on natural teeth and Implant Restorations
How vertical preparations and provisional restorations allow us to deliver predictable soft tissue in the aesthetic zone

By the end of the lecture delegates will:
  1. Understand biological width and its modern-day applications
  2. Understand the Vertiprep
  3. Understand how to fabricate provisional restorations for the BOPT Concept
  4. Understand How this concept is changing the way we place and restore dental implants
  5. Understand Basic Smile design and how BOPT is an essential tool in this process
  6. Understand the Laboratory stages
This lecture will have elements of enhanced GDC learning outcome C

Dr Aman Bharti
BDS(lond) MFGDP(UK) MJDFRCS Dip.Rest.Dent.
Aman qualified from Guys Kings and St Thomas in 2004. He is the principal of 3 practices including the multi award winning Headrow Dental, a boutique practice located in the heart of Leeds City Centre’s fashion district.
Passionate about aesthetic and implant dentistry, his focus has shifted towards aesthetic rehabilitations specifically using the BOPT technique.
He is currently working towards a Masters in Clinical Dentistry, with specific focus on studies surrounding biological width and soft tissue aesthetics.
Aman has been involved in teaching for many years. He has been an educational supervisor in Yorkshire for the last decade and has also held the position of lead MJDF tutor for the FGDP(UK) Yorkshire division. 
He is the lead tutor for the Headrow Academy restorative and Implant programmes with teaching centred around BOPT.  He appears regularly in the dental press and is the resident dentist for BBC Radio Leeds.

DSD fundamentals - hands-on

PLEASE NOTE THAT ATTENDEES SHOULD BRING THEIR OWN IPADS.  The DSDApp requires an iPad from year 2014 or later. The iPad must also have an OS 9 update or later, with a minimum screen resolution of 2048 x 1536

Digital technology is disrupting the traditional ways we think about and practice dentistry. By starting with the end in mind we can visualise our end point of treatment easily utilising digital smile design concepts and then once we know this, deliver the dentistry required to achieve it in an efficient, accurate and predictable way. In this presentation we will cover smile design concepts, how to link this to the clinical treatment and stage our dentistry easily. Smile design will be practically covered in the hands on, for which participants should bring their own iPads with the correct specifications

This lecture will have elements of enhanced GDC learning outcome A and C

Effective communication with patients, the dental team and others across dentistry, including when obtaining consent, dealing with complaints, and raising concerns when patients are at risk

Elaine Halley

Dr. Elaine Halley graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1992 and achieved her membership of the Royal College of General Dental Practitioners in 1995. She is a past president of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and is accredited by the academy. 

She has a Masters of Science degree in Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry with distinction from the University of Manchester. She is a member of the master group of Digital Smile Design dentists accredited by Christian Coachman and is an official DSD instructor. She is also an Opinion Leader for Ivoclar Vivadent, Optident and Align technology and lectures throughout the UK, Europe and the States. She is a judge for the Scottish Dental Awards and serves on the Editorial board for Private Dentistry and Aesthetic Dentistry. She has authored numerous articles on clinical dentistry, facial aesthetics, treatment planning and the business of dentistry.

Elaine has private practices in Perth and Edinburgh. Cherrybank Dental Spa have won numerous awards including Outstanding Customer Service in the Chamber of Commerce Awards, Best Marketing in the Private Dental Awards, Best Employer and Outstanding Individual for Elaine in the Scottish Dental Awards and Outstanding Contribution to Scottish Dentistry. Both practices have been awarded the Good Practice Standard from the British Dental Association and Investors in People Awards.
