Moisture control is essential for the success of direct resin composite restorations. Rubber dam is considered the gold standard in moisture control but this technique is not widely used by dentists when restoring teeth with direct composite restorations.
Hurdles for the use of rubber dam amongst dental practitioners will be discussed. Various techniques will be shown which will enable the General Dental Practitioner to isolate teeth in a quick, efficient and a predictable manner.

Nadeem qualified in 1993 from the University of Sheffield and has since been in General Practice in Burnley. He also works as a clinical assistant in orthodontics at Burnley General Hospital. He has a special interest in Aesthetic dentistry and Orthodontics.
Nadeem serves on the Executive Council of the British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry.
He is involved in research in Primary Dental Care and is an active member of the East Lancashire Research and Development group. He is also the chairman and the founder of the Northwest Dental Academy.
He has lectured extensively and published articles on aesthetic dentistry, in particular cases requiring comprehensive orthodontics and restorative interventions. Nadeem also runs hands-on courses on direct resin composite restorations for General Dental Practitioners.
